Ambassador Sada Cumber, founder of the Alhambra-US Chamber, presented an inspiring message about the power of peace, understanding, and democracy at a special conference on “Islam and Muslims in America.” The event was a forum that was jointly organized by Chicago’s American Islamic College and the Organization of the Islamic Conference that took place in September.
Cumber set forth a compelling vision for where he believes Muslim-majority nations can and should aim in the future. Based upon the Quran and Hadith, Cumber told the conference that all citizens of Muslim-majority nations have a right to the following:
- Good Governance
- Rule of Law
- Access to Justice
- Strong Civil Society
- Basic and Higher Education
- Soft and Hard Infrastructure
- Gender Equality and Respect for Human Rights
- Accountability
- Transparency
These nine points are key components of Cumber’s vision for Muslim nations in the future. Part of the Alhambra-US Chamber’s mission is to work with governments, businesses, and civil society groups in these nations to achieve these goals through private enterprise, civil society, education, and constructive diplomacy.
