Anjum Malik is a businesswoman, educational consultant, and an expert on international education. She has a proven record of negotiation and facilitating deals in both the private and public sectors at the national and international levels.

Anjum and her husband, Hussain, are co-founders of the House of Tutors Learning Centers, USA, and its subsidiary, the Intensive American English Institute (IAEI). House of Tutors is a fully accredited, internationally recognized, best-practice leader in the fields of intensive English language training (ESL/EFL), multi-subject tutoring for all educational levels, student mentoring, college advising, standardized testing preparation (SAT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT), and CLEP (College Level Equivalent Preparation). House of Tutors has built significant strategic partnerships and relationships with close to a 100 universities both in the United States and abroad. Malik also regularly consults on issues related to education, such as international accreditation, franchising, strategic planning, branding structure, and the development, design, and implementation of franchise expansion models. She has helped universities and colleges across the world develop a vision and a mission statement while also consulting on website content, faculty interviewing, and hiring strategies. She has also talked on topics ranging from Leadership Development, Management Practices, and Interviewing and Selection and Leadership Development. Malik combines this wealth of experience with her formidable ability to make friends and build relationships in order to create positive change in fields as diverse as education, business, and public policy.

In the political arena, Malik was instrumental in facilitating the successful negotiation of a Memorandum of Understanding on trade and tourism between the State of Texas and the Republic of Bulgaria. She also brokered a deal between the Emirate of Dubai and a team of North American scientists to halt and reverse damage caused by its Red Tide (harmful algal bloom) problem and has negotiated numerous consulting agreements in Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

She is well known in Washington D.C. as well as among national and international media as a founding member of the Coalition for an Airline Passenger Bill of Rights. In this capacity she has attended Senate and House hearings, lobbied Congress, helped pass a bill through the House of Representatives in record time, has assisted on a special US Department of Transportation taskforce report and appeared on national T.V. and radio networks and programs.

In her capacity as a professional educator, Malik has given expert testimony on higher education before the Texas Legislature and is a highly sought after public speaker. She has spoken at both national and international events, at academic conferences, international organizations, world wide fairs, and specialized groups. She continues to serve as an advisor to the Initiative to Educate Afghan women and has worked with multiple educational and cultural outreach programs. She has served on numerous boards in various capacities, devoting her time to multiple community organizations and projects including St. David’s South Austin Hospital and the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Anjum Malik arrived in Austin, Texas in 1977 from her native country India where she was a professor of political science. Malik and her husband have three children, Aabir, Amrin, and Zeeshan.
